Scott Frerking

Associate Pastor

Scott was born & raised in South Texas. After graduating from the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green!), he joined YWAM-Maui as a full-time missionary, where he met his amazing wife, Sarah, who was born & raised in Alaska.

Upon leaving YWAM & getting married in 1996, Scott served as a youth pastor in Texas, worked with struggling teens in Omaha (NE), & was a principal of a private high school in Georgia.

The key events in Pastor Scott's & Sarah's life occurred after the collapse of their marriage; when they ended up distraught, hopeless, & wanting out. They "temporarily" moved to Omaha, Nebraska to see if Trinity Church could help them in any way. They ended up in Fresh Start, a ministry that provided grace, hope, & life. Both went to Omaha to "fix" things, but quickly realized that their hearts were severely wounded from unresolved issues. As they began to process the issues of their hearts, the Father did a miracle in not only healing their hearts, but also in restoring their marriage.

Convinced that "It's Never Too Late For A Fresh Start!", Scott & Sarah Scott's Mugstayed in Omaha after being healed and began working with Trinity Church, the counseling ministry, & Fresh Start. After serving for two years, they took the opportunity to help launch Fresh Start at Church on the Rock in Alaska, and then Scott took a position here as the associate pastor. For Scott, you're talking about a Texas boy who also lived for over 6 years in Hawaii, moving to the "Last Frontier". For Sarah, she was coming home. For both, they saw the hand of the Lord leading them to be a part of something great & being a part of a fantastic, life-giving church body.

As the Associate Pastor, Scott's greatest desire is to see every heart healed & to help those who have been healed to make it a lifestyle (the discipleship part of wholeness). Through Fresh Start Alaska, this is happening at a high level & the vision is to see it open up to every church in the Valley, so that Fresh Start Alaska can come alongside those who need healing & those who need to resolve issues. Meeting every Monday night throughout the year helps create consistency & does not compete with most church functions.

Scott & Sarah have two incredible kids - Zion Scott (born in Omaha in August 2004) & Hadassah Renee' (born in Alaska in February 2007). They've put in their order for 4 kids - two of each, so they are half way there. Hadassah is still little & developing her personality; while Zion is a guitar & drum fanatic, who loves the worship time at Church on the Rock. He can also name each of the U2 band members & tell you what instruments they play (his dad happens to be U2's biggest fan!).
